Daria Jardas Babić, research assistant on the POMERI project, successfully defended her doctoral thesis under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Robert Peter and co-supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aleš Omerzu on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.
The title of the doctoral thesis is: Towards Efficient Photodegradation of Microplastics: Application of Zinc Oxide Thin Films Deposited with Plasma-Enhanced Atomic Layer Deposition.
This thesis presents a systematic study of zinc oxide thin films prepared by plasma-enhanced atomic layer deposition. Special emphasis was placed on examining their structural, optical, and photocatalytic properties as a function of deposition conditions, with the aim of applying them in water purification from organic pollutants, in line with the goals of the POMERI project.
